Goodbye 2023: Cheers to the New Year

Happy New Year to anyone who is reading this. Now that we're in 2024, I'm sure that most of you have already set some goals, created your Pinterest boards, and set some resolutions. What's most important for you to do before all of those things is to reflect. When you think about 2023, what comes to mind? What memories do you want to hold on to? What things did you learn?

For me, so many things happened in 2023. Two months into it, I got sick with COVID-19. At the time, I was in my senior year of college. I was stressed; overwhelmed by the thought of graduation, finishing strong in my classes, and post graduation plans. With me being sick, that only added to my stress more. I was also in a bad living situation that continuously drained me mentally. With all of that being said, the new year was off to a rough start. The next couple of months were filled with more challenges. I had to release people that were once my friends, my anxiety was getting worse, and I was becoming excessively scared about my future. I decided to take charge of my mental health, and I started going back to therapy. Through that, I learned so much about myself and little by little I started seeing improvement.

When I reflect on 2023, the word that comes to mind is resilience. Through God's grace I was able to endure every obstacle that came my way. I started focusing on growing my relationship with God and doing the self work to become better. In addition to my challenges, I made so many memories that I will cherish forever. I rebranded my business by creating a new logo and upgrading my website and my packaging, which was something I had been wanting to do since 2020. I also was awarded with an honors cord for being the first college graduate in my family. Of course I have to mention the fact that I graduated from college with honors.

Throughout the rest of the year, the challenges didn't stop, but neither did the good times. I endured post grad blues, and I've dealt with every hard transition that has come with not being a student anymore. I've dealt with job rejections and leaving job positions that I thought would put me in a good place. Yet, despite it all I've learned how to practice gratitude. I was able to create new relationships with some amazing people and draw closer to the people that were already in my life.
