Progress vs. Perfection

Progress vs. Perfection

If you’ve allowed yourself to be held back as a result of fear, this blog is for you. Let’s talk about progress vs. perfection.

Have you ever heard of the phrase: there’s a thin line between love and hate?  Well there’s a thin line between progress and perfection. Coming from the ultimate perfectionist herself, I know how hard it can be to not have everything fall in place.

To get to where you want to be, you have to let go of the need to be in control. Stop worrying about having everything together before you do the thing, just go for it. I’m not saying that you should dive into situations blindly, but at some point you have to stop waiting on perfection to show up because that’s unrealistic.

Imagine the potential that you’ve stalled in the name of having it all together. True progress comes from putting yourself out there. The experiences and challenges that you face will breed progress over time if you allow it. You’ll never get to experience your growth if you’re too afraid to take the first step.

To help you start working towards progress over perfection, you have to evaluate how you perceive both of these things. How you define/ perceive something will shape how you feel. So start by defining what true progress even is for you. When you do this, I want you to eliminate any ideas of progress that have been influenced by someone or something else. Find what progress really means to you, and don’t be overly hard on yourself either. If you’re just one percent better than yesterday, you've progressed.

If you’ve realized that your idea of progress and perfection have been flawed, make the proper adjustments so you can start making strides. Your dreams will remain in the drafts if you don’t figure out how to narrow the gap between perfection and progress.

Don’t let this year pass you without making any progress towards the things that you should have worked on. Your future you will thank you.

Signed,
